Edward Ross was born in Clinton, South Carolina, in 1923. He attended the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland, California, and the Atlanta College of Art in Atlanta. After he graduated, he worked as the head of the painting department at the Atlanta College of Art for ten years. His southeastern minimalist art is on display at the High Museum of Art and Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia, both in Atlanta. He died in 1976.
Ross’s mixed media piece Reading #17 (1967) is part of Georgia’s State Art Collection.
